Commerce Bank partnered with the Cherry Hill, New Jersey School District, higher education partners and the business community to create the Business Academy for Studies and Experiences (B.A.S.E.) Program in response to New Jersey's challenge to create high quality educational opportunities for high school students. Since January 2003, the B.A.S.E. Program has engaged students and familiarized them with the world of business.

Commerce now partners with high schools throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Commerce University faculty teach at various points throughout the school year in the high schools. In addition, one class may also be held at a Commerce University corporate training center.

Students entering the BASE Program are selected by the school faculty. The program targets 20 students in their junior year of high school and features dynamic "soft-skill" courses that prepare the students for the demands of the corporate environment. Courses include:

• Business Ethics
• Conflict Resolution
• Leadership 101
• Feedback and Delegation
• Change Management
• Networking

Students have the opportunity to enter college or careers more focused and with an understanding of the level of work and effort needed to succeed in the business world.
