Partnering Through Education
Camp Business
Commerce Bank partnered with the LeBow College of Business at Drexel University in Philadelphia to create Camp Business in the Summer of 2002, a free, exclusive, hands-on business camp that introduces students to the real world of business. In 2005, Commerce expanded Camp Business into the New York Metropolitan area.
Fifty high school students are selected for this unique nine-day program each summer, after a competitive selection process that attracts hundreds of applications.
The curriculum is designed to spark creativity, develop decision-making and leadership skills and reinforce that business can be fun and engaging. Students attend interactive, college-level business courses. Classes are led by university professors and corporate training professionals from Commerce University. Working closely with high school juniors and seniors, the program explores the roles of Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Business Etiquette, Management, Human Resources, and Communicating a Professional Image. The program culminates in presentations given by teams of students who are rewarded for their efforts by earning prizes such as laptop computers and IPOD’s.
Students also have the opportunity to interact with successful executives who offer career guidance and up-to-the minute insights on current employment, business and economic trends.
